Our commitment to our employees

Human rights and the Law
As an organization we have clear responsibilities in upholding human rights principles, wherever we operate. We need to ensure that we are not involved in human rights violations, either directly or indirectly and that we operate in accordance with internationally accepted human rights standards, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) Core Conventions.

Work is part of everyone’s daily life and is crucial to a person’s dignity, well-being and development as a human being. The International Copyright Organization strongly believes in creating such working conditions in which people can work in freedom, safety and dignity and thus giving them the tools to excel.

Where we discover, or are made aware, that we have been associated with human rights violations we shall take steps to remedy the situation, taking account of the interests of those whose rights are being violated. In cases where we discover that we are associated with violations of human rights we will take appropriate action in mitigation. This may include exiting a particular business relationship, or constructive engagement with others to promote good practice.

Respect and Dignity
We will treat each other with respect and fairness at all times, just as we wish to be treated ourselves. We will value the difference of diverse individuals from around the world. Employment decisions will be based on business reasons, such as qualifications, talents and achievements, and will comply with local and national employment laws.

No discrimination on the basis of race, religion, colour, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital status, disability, pregnancy, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law will be allowed.

Communication Channels
Effective communication channels within our Organization are critical to the Organization’s success. We are committed to providing effective channels of communication among the Directors, the Management team and our employees. This will lead to greater focus and effectiveness, foster teamwork, promote synergy and in general help the Organization develop effective strategies that will realize greater potential than the sum of its individual potential.

We are all responsible for maintaining a safe workplace by following safety and health rules and practices. We are committed to keeping our workplaces free of hazards. To protect the safety of all employees, each of us must report to work free from the influence of any substance that could prevent us from conducting work activities safely and effectively. Our commitment to our business partners

Agents/Consultants/Subcontractors/Alliances
We will strive to build long-term relationships and award business to third parties based on their ability to meet our needs and commitments, their reputation for service, integrity and compliance, their high standards for quality and delivery and their prices. We will not do business with third parties who are likely to harm our Organizations reputation. For example, we will avoid doing business with others who intentionally and continually violate the law. These laws include, for example, local environmental, employment, safety and anti-corruption statutes. All arrangements with third parties must comply with local law.

Agents and Consultants:
Commission rates or fees paid to agents, finders or consultants must be reasonable in relation to the value of the product or work that is actually being done, consistent with law, policy and local practice. We will not pay commissions or fees that we have reason to believe will become bribes.

Subcontractors:
Subcontractors play a vital role in fulfilling many of our contracts. That is why it is very important to ensure that our subcontractors preserve and strengthen our Organizations reputation by acting consistently with our Code of Business Conduct.

Joint Ventures and Alliances:
The Organization strives to ally with companies that share our commitment to ethics. We will work to make the standards of our joint ventures compatible with our own.

Purchasing agreements should be documented and clearly identify the services or products to be provided, the basis for earning payment and the applicable rate or fee. The amount of payment must be commensurate with the services or products provided.

Gifts
It is customary to exchange gifts and entertainment among business partners. The Directors, management and all employees of the Organization are prohibited from accepting excessive or lavish gifts that may give the appearance or could be reasonably viewed as compromising, that individual’s ability to make objective and fair business decisions on behalf of the Organization. Our 100% digital policy is a clear example of our commitment to minimize the use of paper and other materials beyond todays industry accepted standards. The Organization’s commitment to minimizing our environmental footprint was a deciding factor in the choice of blockchain technology and supporting the development of blockchain networks that are more than one hundred times less resource intensive than existing blockchains such as the ones supporting Bitcoin.
